The Charity Channel is a great all-around resource for networking and educational development for nonprofit professionals.
This online resource “channels” information and updates on philanthropy, fundraising, board governance and consulting. It also provides online discussion forums, distance learning courses and in-depth articles on fundraising.
Much of the information is FREE and available to non-subscribers including articles, discussion group postings, and other resources. If you are interested in joining, the subscription is only $24 per year or $18 for six months.

The Blue Suit Mom newsletter and web site offers advice on balancing career and family, as well as information on health, finance and travel. The organization’s founder, Maria Bailey, also offers a link to her MomTalk radio show.
Parent's Guide to Family Friendly Work
Women Work! is featured among many other useful resources in this new book from an Ohio Women Work! member Dr. Lori K. Long. Inequality.org provides a variety of approaches to the issue of the income gap and supplies an accompanying reading list.
Women: A Celebration of Strength

Funding Opportunities
Community College Excellence Award
Two colleges that effectively help underserved populations succeed in postsecondary learning will receive a $30,000 award and national recognition from The MetLife Foudnation and Jobs for the Future. Any public, accredited community college can apply. Visit the Jobs for the Future website for more information and to apply online.
US Airways Education Foundation
The US Airways Education Foundation places a high value on educational programs that respond to social issues, especially those that directly or indirectly strive to improve education or increase skills for its participants. To this end, the US Airways Education Foundation, Inc., will consider providing grants up to $5,000.00 to non-profit organizations that submit grant applications describing educational programs that include any of the following criteria:
- Educational programs that respond to the special needs of disadvantaged or disabled individuals
- Educational programs that teach or enhance social responsibility
- Educational programs that facilitate parental and/or community involvement
- Educational programs that enhance academic achievement

New Program for Life Transitions
Women Work! member, Linn-Benton Community College, has created a program for single parents, displaced homemakers and others experiencing a major life transition called Turning Point Transition. Participants develop their resumes and interview skills while exploring educational and training opportunities. They also raise self-esteem and learn to deal with stress and anger. Women Work! member organization, the Career and Technical Education Center in Honolulu, has created a straightforward yet detailed guide outlining opportunities available to Hawaii women to enter non-traditional trades. Banning the Word Rape in a NE Courtroom - Jeffre Cheuvront, a Nebraska district judge, granted a motion by defense attorneys that bars the use of the words rape, sexual assault, victim, assailant, and sexual assault kit from the trial of Pamir Safi, accused of raping a woman in late 2004.
Liz Claiborne Dies at 78 - Liz Claiborne died earlier this week due to complications from cancer. Claiborne defied a male dominated field to become America 's most successful designer of women's apparel. In 1986, Liz Claiborne Inc. became the first company founded by a woman to enter the Fortune 500 and was one of few to have female chief executives.
35th Anniversary of Title IX - Although the 1972 landmark legislation is usually associated with the advancement of athletic programs for women, complaints have also been filed under Title IX regarding math and science education and health care facilities.
