Request for Proposals
 The
National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity and Women Work! The
National Network for Women's Employment are currently accepting
workshop proposals for their 2009 Professional Development Institute
(PDI), Partners on the Path To Equity. Proposals on a variety of topics are being accepted, but NAPE and Women Work! are particularly interested in:
- Building
sectoral initiatives and other collaborative partnerships, particularly
with employers, but also with community-based organizations,
educational institutions, or government agencies
- Implementing strategies for recruitment and retention of individuals in nontraditional careers
- Developments
in federal, state, and local policy that impacts education, workforce
development, and the welfare system's ability to provide support for
education, training, and employment; and ways advocates can influence
these policies

Board of Directors Nomination
The Women Work! Board of Directors will soon be holding elections for the positions of Northwest and Southwest Area Members and would appreciate your nominations.
Area Members for Women Work!'s Board of Directors are nominated and elected by the membership in their respective geographic areas. They join the Board in providing fiscal oversight, developing policy, and representing the organization. These duties make strategic thinking, flexibility, and the capacity to be part of the governing body of a national organization very important qualities.
If you live in the Northwest region (AK, WA, MT, ND, SD, WY, CO, UT, ID, OR) or the Southwest region (CA, NV, AZ, NM, TX, OK, AR, LA) and would like to nominate yourself or another person for Area Member of the Women Work! Board of Directors, send your nomination to Ann Petter at ah.petter@comcast.net. Please include the contact information for the person you are nominating.
The nomination process will close on December 1, 2008.

Women Work! Member Survey
Women Work! is restructuring the way we gather information from our members. Starting next month, we are making our surveys less frequent and more comprehensive for the convenience of our members. The new survey structure will also help Women Work! more effectively meet our federal reporting requirements.
Keep an eye out in the December eNews for the new Women Work! Membership Survey, which consolidates all of our separate surveys into one document administered to our members every six months. We appreciate your patience if this survey covers items you've been asked about recently. The long term result should mean fewer surveys for Women Work! members and better information gathered by the organization.

Development Doctor Holiday Fundraising
Charity Navigator, an organization that guides
charitable givers toward intelligent giving, reports that charities raise more than half of
their annual donations during the weeks around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Make sure your organization is ready for the
holiday fundraising campaign!
Remember to do your homework. Plan the best way to approach your potential
donors with care, whether through direct mail, phone calls, or internet
solicitations. Most people will not give
if they feel pressured or overwhelmed to do so. Be creative and thoughtful with your requests. Remember, you won't be the only one asking
for money, so make your requests count!
Please direct all questions to the
Development Doctor at thodnett@womenwork.org. If you have any specific
web sites or resources that you use to raise funds, let the Doctor know. Good prescriptions for financial health should be shared!
