Development Doctor
Expand Donor Options - Planned
Giving
While most
donations come from individuals or organizations, informing people
about other options and reasons to give could greatly help your
fundraising. Not all donations need to
be on-the-spot gifts; there are other, more structured ways to give that could
make your beneficiaries feel more comfortable.
Some of these are:
-
Residual
Bequest: After paying off other expenses and debts, the donor's estate
will give the
leftover funds to the organization.
- Contingent
Bequest: A donor will pledge to donate an amount of money to the
non-profit based on certain conditions, such as there not being any more living
relatives.
-
Gift of
Life Insurance: The donor may decide that she/he no longer needs their life
insurance and can transfer the value of the life insurance policy to the
organization.
- Life
Income Gift/Charitable Gift Annuity: The donor agrees to give to the
organization in exchange for the promise that the organization will pay the
donor a specific amount every year during their lifetime.
Your donors may not be able to give money right away, but
these options give them the opportunity to plan and give more in the long run!
Please direct all questions to the
Development Doctor at thodnett@womenwork.org. If you have any specific
web sites or resources that you use to raise funds, let the Doctor know.
Good prescriptions for financial health should be shared!
