Congratulations, fair pay advocates! As a result of your
efforts, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act was signed into law by President
Obama today after passing in the Senate last week (get the details here).
This is the first bill Obama has signed as President.
Women Work! thanks you for taking the time to contact your
Members of Congress repeatedly over the past two years to let them know about
the importance of passing this legislation. This is a hard-won victory that
would not have been possible without the actions of grassroots activists like
you.
While Lilly Ledbetter herself will not be receiving any financial
restitution for her years of discrimination, she has repeatedly said that she
is thrilled about the bill's passage, and has urged advocates to keep up the
fight to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act, which passed in the House but has not
yet come to the floor in the Senate.
